The Civil Protection Charity Golf Tournament brings together the golfing community to raise vital funds for the firefighters and civil protection teams who work tirelessly to protect the Algarve and Southern Alentejo during the wildfire season. Every team entry contributes towards improving equipment, technology and operational resources, helping those on the frontline respond more effectively when it matters most.
Hosted on Quinta do Lago's iconic South Course, the tournament combines great golf, friendly competition and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the local community.

- Join us after the tournament for lunch and support the event, even if you're not taking part in the competition.
Tournament Format
- 4-Player Shamble
- Stableford scoring with full playing handicap
- All players tee off; the best drive is selected before each player continues with their own ball
- Best two nett Stableford scores count on each hole
- Each player must contribute a minimum of four drives
- Handicap Limits: Men – 28 | Ladies – 36
- Ties will be decided by countback (last 9, 6, 3, 2 and final hole)

South Course
Multiple winner of the World Golf Awards, including Portugal's Best Golf Course (2014, 2017, 2019, 2021–2024) and Europe's Best Golf Course (2022 & 2023)
The South Course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, who introduced American-style greens, tees and bunkers to the Algarve, it quickly established itself as one of Europe's premier championship courses. A favourite among European Tour professionals, this 6,500-metre, par-72 layout winds through umbrella pines, lakes and wildflowers, with stunning views across the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
Its championship status, however, does not deter the amateur golfer. While the 8th, 15th and 18th are testing holes for low-handicap players, the course's varying difficulty challenges golfers of all levels and abilities. Accurate tee shots are essential for reaching the greens, as the variety of doglegs and strategically positioned hazards demand precision throughout the round. The front nine, which weave through mature parkland, generally favour a draw, while the back nine, looping around the lake, favour a fade from the tee.

The North, South and Laranjal Clubhouse showcases a new look and feel that is brighter, more spacious, and welcoming than ever before, reflecting the recent renovations. A hub for golfers who enjoy the exceptional facilities of Quinta do Lago, the Clubhouse will have options to host special events for groups as well as a new shop and refreshed menu that will offer a Champions Breakfast.
The Quinta do Lago Clubhouses have a menu for all tastes. The legendary ‘19th Hole’ atmosphere creates an ideal pit-stop after a busy morning on the fairways. We have a Buggy Bar service available on the course.
